wedding cake card

on saturday we went to the most beautiful wedding. the bride and groom were beyond happy and fun was had by all at the gorgeous reception at como house.

for the present we bought a collection of stunning mud porcelain pieces from sassica & salter. instead of buying the newlyweds a card, i made one. a wedding cake card in fact.

i used one sheet of patterned card from paperpoint in south melbourne. i used the reverse side of the paper for the second and fourth layers of the cake.

and who needs to buy envelopes when you have an envelope template! i made the envelope with plain white paper and stuck the bride and groom's initials on the front.

my studious friend sarah asked me to travel north with the promise of delicious coffee and stationery heaven. i wasn't disappointed!

belki is a gorgeous little shop (pram friendly to boot) located on rathdowne street in carlton north. gorgeous window displays, sweet smelling candles, baby gifts galore and stationery, stationery, stationery! i couldn't leave without buying a d.i.y. envelope template.

if you're north of the river and need a stationery fix, pop into belki. and while you are there you might as well sample tre bicchieri's caffeinated delights.

my husband and i travelled around italy a couple of years ago. one of the highlights of our trip was walking around rome, getting lost and enjoying the occasional aperol spritzer. my in-laws are heading to france and italy at the end of april and we wanted to share the delights of a good stroll around rome so we bought them rome: 50 adventures on foot.

i wrapped the cards with some paper featuring a vintage map of italy. i bought the paper from zetta florence a couple of years back. up until recently it was hanging on the wall in our spare bedroom. i tied the present up with brown string. i also used some of the map to make a gift tag.

one of the perks of having a blog about stationery is that all these lovely people are sending me links to fabulous sites. the latest find is LetterboxCo.

a design house based in sydney, LetterboxCo produces all sorts of wonderful stationery products - pens, envelopes, notepads and gift tags. they even sell gorgeous little vases.

baby boom

babies, babies, babies...they are everywhere. i've recently bought presents for my dear friend who just had a beautiful baby girl and for my husband's goddaughter.

the great thing about this blog is that it is forcing me to consider new ways to wrap presents. i could happily wrap everything in brown paper but that wouldn't make for an interesting blog would it?

anyway this is how i wrapped the latest pressies. granted, this first bunch of presents were wrapped with brown paper...but brown paper with red spots! the ribbon i saved from a gift i was given. the card and envelope were decorated with illustrations from write to me.

this second present was wrapped with paper from kikki k and brown string. the card features the cavallini & co 'with love' stamp.

handmade in tasmania

i recently ventured down south to spend a relaxing week with family. during my visit i checked out some of launceston's finest shops. the highlight of my trip was a visit to cocoon. this gorgeous little store is filled with homewares, jewelry, books, paper goods...and twine!

you could easily buy everything in this store. i walked out with some delicious drinking chocolate packaged in a yellow retro container and a bookmark card.

not only is cocoon a lovely shop, the owner is absolutely gorgeous. she very kindly gave me a pair of her stud earrings which she sells in the store. she certainly is a talented lady with an eye for style...and generous to boot!

if you are in launceston don't leave without a visit to cocoon. also worth checking out is homebody, content and cocobean (no stationery but lots of lovely chocolate).

upon a fold

my lovely friend roxy sent me a link to this great online store and blog. i could spend a small fortune on upon a fold. particularly love the mobile. i recommend a visit.

bob the builder

children's birthday cards can be...well...a bit gaudy. for my husband's godson i wanted to make a birthday card that was a bit different. he LOVES bob the builder so i decided to do a pinprick image of bob.

the instructions on how to make a pinprick card can be found here. so easy to do and the end result is pretty special.

i also did a pinprick label for the envelope.

for his birthday present we bought 'the story of the little mole' ... a wonderful poo whodunit! i wrapped it in white paper with brown string. i decorated the wrapping with a decorative teddy bear which i saved from a gift given to our little boy.

this was my first try at a pinprick card and now i'm a little obsessed. no doubt more pinprick cards to follow.

amanda's market bag

it has been a busy time for birthdays. lucky for me a fabulous new store has opened up just around the corner. maker handmade is located in park street, south melbourne. the store is filled with beautiful local handmade items.

i bought the birthday girl a market bag with a screenprinted artichoke on it from melbourne designers yardage design. as their website states, all yardage design products are hand screen-printed using water-based inks onto natural fibre base cloths (organic cotton, linen, hemp).

i made a card for amanda out of brown paper. on the front i stuck a gift tag with a little bird stamp. the present was wrapped in recycled bronze paper with a brown and white stripped ribbon.

amanda, i hope you fill your bag with lots of treasures when you next visit the market.

strictly not stationery but..

chocolate is my one vice. i love it just as much as stationery.

this week i was lucky enough to receive some ridiculously yummy chocolates. they were heidel chocolates.

it is true that these little blocks of creamy chocolatey goodness have nothing to do with paper, cards or stationery but the packaging was beautiful and i had to share it with you.

baby thank you notes

as i previously mentioned, i have just had a baby boy. the cute little munchkin has been spoiled rotten with lots of gorgeous gifts. while he enjoys his presents, i have been toiling away writing thank you notes.

the thank you cards were relatively simple to make and a much cheaper alternative to bought cards. i cut 300gsm white card, which i bought from paperpoint, to match the same size as the polaroid picture i was sending with the notes.

the front of the card featured a deer stamp, which i bought from corrabelle's store on etsy, and the cavallini & co thank you stamp. the heart and 'to' stamp are also from cavallini & co.

the first batch of kraft envelopes were from rock paper scissors. when i ran out of them i started using recycled brown paper envelopes from paperpoint.

thank you truffles

we spent australia day with our dear friends camilla and mark (no, not the fashion designers). we were treated to a beautiful lunch which ended with some rather scrumptious lamingtons.

to say thank you we bought them raspberry and milk chocolate truffles from melt chocolates at the south melbourne market.

i also bought a little black paper bag from the gift wrapping store in the south melbourne market to put the truffles in. i tied a thank you tag to the bag with some ribbon i saved from a present i was given.

the thank you stamp is part of a cavallini & co stamp set. the set was a birthday present from my friend fran. i use it all the time. you can buy it at zetta florence in melbourne or online at notemaker.

oh, and camilla was kind enough to share some of the truffles after lunch. amazing! if you live in melbourne, get down to the market.
